Well, it's been terribly long since I've posted anything. I started using facebook a while back, and anything blogging type I've done has been there, although generally, not much. But, here's something interesting, to do with a new book-to-movie that's on it's way. Tell me if you agree with my choice of Daemon!
Well, its been a while, and things are...well...movin right along. Which, if you've ever heard the Muppets song by that title, holds many meanings.
We've been moved in to our apartment and employed for going on three weeks now. We've deposited our first checks, (actually, I still have my first full week check in my purse, haven't gotten to the bank yet...its nice to be in a place where its not an absolute priority - but I do need to get that done, I shall put it on the fridge!) Speaking of the fridge - I find myself actually using a pad on the fridge a great deal. This weekend and today, I accomplished several things - got my insurance for my car transferred to USAA - which shall save us about $800 a year! Apparently there are disctinct and several benefits to being the daughter-in-law of a former Army officer. Who knew? I also renewed Scott's health insurance - he's on a temporary plan 'til the employment insurance kicks in. And I paid off part of my bill for having my car fixed. Which is good - as it is not working again! I thought the battery had just died - but apparently it has died again, so Scott shall be giving me a ride to work again tomorrow, as he did today. But we're moving to an hour later start time for work - so that's good. (Its really, really good - trust me!) Both Scott and I function better in the evening than in the morning.
Lets see...we also printed out pictures for our respective offices. Which reminds me. I work for Coca-Cola. And we have a cubicle decorating contest for Christmas. It was announced last week - which is what has me thinking about it right now (pre-Thanksgiving, which is unusual for me - except for gifts, I usually think about gifts for people early.) Anyways, one of my ideas is to change out all my pictures (which is a lot) for pictures of the same (and more!) people - all wearing something Christmassy (Santa Hat/Wrapped in Lights/Christmas Sweater, whatever) and holding a Coca-Cola bottle! It would, of course, be especially cool to have unique Coca-Cola bottles in the pictures (hint, hint, certain parties in foreign countries!). Anyways, I'll be touring around armed with various props, but if any of ya'll would care to take a digital photo and send it my way, that'd be terrific! Especially for those of you who I won't see 'til Christmas, or even then.
Okay...well, its time for me to rest my head at the Happiness Hotel. Be thinking of creative ways to take a Christmas photo with a Coke! :-p
I was just minding my own business, cruising Rueters for news about how Yahoo! is going to put a laser on a Mexican landmark...except that there was another link that said Mexico said no. And so now Yahoo is taking their laser elsewhere, phooey on Mexico. But, then I found THIS!
Last night Scott and I went on a fantabulous date! First, we visited a very nice Thai restaurant called Thai Orchid - it was a bit high class for everyday - but this was the "we both have jobs" date - so we splurged a little. Now I really want to learn to cook Thai soup. But then, we went to our new favorite hang-out - the Flying Saucer. Its a great pub, very British. And last night we went to a great concert there - the Killdares. They're mostly from Dallas, so its Southern Rock...but they have added in a fiddle player extraordinaire, and bagpipes! So awesome! We bought 2 CDs (for $20), and they took 10 minutes to search out every band member to sign one! It was so cool - they are really nifty peoples. Plus, the music is awesome - and the cover was only $3! Anyways, here's a picture of the band .
Something kinda nifty to note...the drummer is also the lead singer and founder of the band! Its really odd to have a drummer who sings.
